Dr. Lloyd Kurth, D.O., to Retire July 31

Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates’ orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Lloyd A. Kurth, D.O., will retire July 31.

Kurth, native of New Castle, Pa., joined MOA in May of 1997 and has been practicing in North Central West Virginia for more than 25 years. He is a co-developer of Stelkast Proven Knee Arthroplasty and has performed more than 3,000 knee replacements.

“It is with both happiness and sadness that Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates is announcing the retirement of Dr. Lloyd A. Kurth, D.O.” said Dr. Matthew P. Darmelio, M.D., MOA president. “He has been a great partner to work with as well as a wonderful orthopedic surgeon for our community since he started.”


About Dr. Lloyd Kurth, D.O.

Dr. Lloyd Kurth, D.O.Kurth is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 1986. He also taught as a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine and West Virginia University Hospital.

Kurth earned his medical degree from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at West Virginia University.

In addition to being an orthopedic surgeon, Kurth served in the United States Army in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne and received the Bronze Star for valor.

 

“We are happy for him as he enters retirement and embarks on new endeavors,” Darmelio said. “We want our community to please join us in wishing him continued success and many years of happiness and health.”

MOA will continue to evaluate and treat Dr. Kurth’s current orthopedic patients. MOA surgeons are experienced with treating operative and non-operative orthopedic conditions.
